What exactly is salvation and what does
eternal life mean?
-- guaranteed ticket to the kingdom of God, both in heaven and on earth.
not a lot of people understand these terms so commonly used by us Christians. even Christians find it hard to fully grasp their meaning. How does it relate to real life, some may ask? what is the connection between how we are living in present day and His promise 2000 years ago about eternal life?
before we look at what salvation is, let's rule out what it is not - salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done.
well, let's start from the beginning of time.
adam and eve. later on, flood. sodom and
gomorrah. ongoing sin. 40 years in wilderness. continuous sin. God said ill let
you suffer now, but i'll send you a saviour, who will out in the right standing
with him.
history of Israel and sin. never to be
redeemed. but God promised them a saviour, someone who will act as an advocate,
a middle man, a liason, to God and heaven. god is so great, too great, as the
old testament indicates, we couldnt approach him on our own before. his
magnificence was too frightening. only prophets and highly ordained priests
heard from God and communicated God's words to the people. There were a few
exceptions of chosen ones who werent prophets but communicated with God freely,
Abraham being one of them. not anyone could approach or talkt o him. he is
God after all, and creator of all things on earth and beyond. abraham days
sacrifice, communicating through priests etc. his wrath is not something to
contend with.
thats not needed anymore. because of
Jesus, we can come to God freely, ask him anything in His name and he'll
answer. no need for sacrifice. no need for priests. we have direct
communication with God. jesus came, so that through his death, we can have
life. through his shed blood, we can be free from sin, chains and bondages.
because he died, our sins are gone. So how do we recieve salvation? How can we
get the free wonderful gift of eternal life? All we need to do is
acknowledge
Confess
Invite
acknowledge that Jesus christ is Lord and he died on the cross that you might be saved, rose again and is sitting on the right hand side of God in heaven
Confess your sins - admit that you're
a sinner. Confess your known sins to him, and ask for forgiveness
invite him into your heart and make him
your lord and saviour.
that's all that needs to be done. viola. and youre saved. freeway ticket to heaven. just like that. Heaven rejoices when a soul is won, do you know how exciitng that is? it means one less for the devil and one more for the kingdom of God. god is so loving, he keeps giving us chance after chance to come to Him, before its too late.
go to him before it's too late. hes
waiting for you. hes been waiting for a while now. go, before it's too late.
